Curbs, Islands and Pavement Edges
The edge of the asphalt is where water gets in and where the surface starts to unravel. A lot bordered by concrete curb holds its edge. Asphalt that simply stops at grass or sand loses support and breaks off in chunks as tires ride over it. Curbing also steers water where it should go and keeps vehicles out of landscaping and off sidewalks.

A phasing plan splits the lot into sections that are worked one at a time while traffic flows through the rest. A sound plan keeps at least one entrance open at all times, keeps accessible parking and an accessible route to the door available in every phase, and keeps the fire lane passable.
